The weekend vibes are here – 40 Acres Canada website got new looks, Buhari Bello laid to rest in Freetown, the Golden Child's $10,000.00 bet for the 2024 Sierra Leone presidential elections, President Bio in the question of the day, plus lots more. You're about to read another bone-cracking edition of “Behind the Scenes". This column is the radical thoughts of one guy called Lans Omar aka the “Golden Child” - born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone. 

Let's do this: After 17 years of using webs and serving the Sierra Leonean communities globally, 40 Acres Canada has migrated to a new host provider. You’ve probably noticed that the site has not been on for about a week – my profound apologies for that. The new 40 Acres Canada website is now up and running with new looks, new features, and a vibrant outlook. It's more professional, more user-friendly and the contents and style remain the same. The domain name is still remains www.40acresCANADA.com

Switching gears:  This remains of Alhaji Buhari Bello was transported From China to Freetown, Sierra Leone, on Sunday September 17^th, 2023, and was buried on Monday September 18, 2023. A Janaza prayer was held at the Old Road Low-Cost Bridge Masjid and was later laid to read at the Kissy Mess Mess cemetery. Bello was given a befitting Islamic funeral with friends and families from all over the world paying their last respects to the Great American Bello. 

Bello will be remembered as “Mr. Cool” - arguably the coolest among all. Since he was a child growing up in Freetown, he prayed his five daily prayers, hardly missed one.

For many of us, Bello has left an indelible footprint on our hearts as one person who treated everyone/anyone equally. Others will remember him as a pioneer of the modern-day Sierra Leone entertainment industry, and he was also the co-creator of the teenage idol dance crew - the Great American Tourists. Rest in peace Buhari Bello. 

Next stop: In the Summer of 2019, we were chilling at my backyard grilling some meat and having some drinks when I predicted a loss for APC in the then forth-coming 2023 presidential elections. I got bashed, former comrades branded me a snitch and blah, blah, blah. Then the elections came and APC lost - betwah! 

Last week, I put a bet of $10,000.00 on Bob Umar and Main Bowl that APC will loose another no run-off election in 2028 and most likely loose the 2033 presidential elections at the mercy of SLPP. They bashed me again. Now, I’m putting a $10,000.00 bet that APC will loose the 2028 presidential elections. If you’re interested in the bet, bring your money and I’ll bring mine and go give it to an elder in the community and wait till 2028. If you want to know how I come up with my summation, please come back here next week.

Question: I saw a picture of President Bio at the UN Summit with a tracker device on his ankle, lol – funny. This is 2023 and we are in middle of a neo-modern world, who puts a tracker device on a president in a UN summit of all places in the first place? That’s not even my concern, my take here is – who even photoshopped that and shared it? Man dem idle too mus. 

Finally: Again, the weekend is here! It’s beginning to get colder outside. Not too sure if I’m going to run around this weekend; wifey just got home from up north up all week working and I want to spend some real good time with her this weekend. 

Fellas, just so you know there are lots of free city parties going on – if you plan to have some good time and get a drink, you know the rules, right? If you’re drinking, don’t drive – if you’re driving, don’t drink. Have a great weekend! Lonta.
