SALNAM Evicted from Resource Centre Premises

By Lans Omar,

Winnipeg, Canada.

The Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba (SALNAM), the governing body that looks after the welfare of Sierra Leoneans in Manitoba, Canada, has been evicted from its resource centre premises.

40 Acres Canada has learnt that the new landlord who now occupies the property at 251 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, Canada, has asked SALNAM off the property due to sale of the building.

According to a communication sent  by SALNAM, the new owner is asking for a very high rent which SALNAM cannot afford.

For the past months, SALNAM has been struggling with payments of the monthly rent and the new owner is asking for a higher amount.

SALNAM's executive will like to inform the Sierra Leonean community in Manitoba that all properties that belong to the community have been taken care of and placed in a secured place.

While trying the hit the heart of the matter, 40 Acres Canada tried to reach the new owner of the property but no avail.

Meanwhile, SALNAM will summon a community meeting soon to brief the people about this issue.
