Saidu Sesay Laid to Rest in Edmonton, Canada

By Daniel Oldfield,
Edmonton, Canada

As I promised yesterday, these were highlights of Sunday's reception after the burial of 39 year old Sierra Leonean Canadian, late Saidu Sesay (pictured) at the St.Clare Church Hall.

Family members of the deceased from Winnipeg, MB, and those here in Edmonton AB, including his young son, were joined by a cross section of the Sierra Leone Association of Alberta, led by the President Dr. Abu Conteh, and most of the executive members, President of the Women's support group of SLAA, Martha Yei Caulker-M'bayo, former President Kemoh Mansaray, relatives and friends, in celebrating the life of our young compatriot.

Prayers were led by the head of the Sierra Leone Muslim Jamaat in Edmonton, Alhaji Ahmed Bangura, followed by several speakers, who reminisced on the good attributes of the departed young man.

Family members of the late Saidu Sesay, led by the brother-in-law Mr Osman Osboy Bangura, heaped praises on the invaluable services rendered to the family by the President Dr. Abu Conteh, Martha Sellu and Alhaji Bangura amongst others, not least the community, who in diverse ways had supported them during the illness till the unfortunate demise of their loved one with the overriding clarion call for "UNITY AMONG MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION AT ALL TIMES, INSPITE OF OUR DIFFERENCES IN OPINIONS".

DJ Arthur Roberts provided Islam recitals/songs. Food was in abundance even for those FASTING.

The MC for the event was Coachie Hamid Munir Kamara who is also the President of APC Canada Edmonton Chapter.

Pictures are by courtsey of Mr Momoh Magona Kallon.

I will round up once again,by reiterating calls for "A JOINT-INTER-FAITH-CHRISTIAN-MUSLIM-PRAYERS-FOR THE ALMIGHTY GOD/ALLAH'S DEVINE INTERVENTION WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY/AFRICAN IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN GENERAL, SO AS TO AVERT THE OCCURRENCE OF DEATHS IN RAPID SUCCESSION.

It could be recalled since 2016 to date, there have been a spike in deaths mostly among the young generation, 50 years and below, I stand to be corrected my dear friends.

Its too much guys. WE NEED PRAYERS!! God's people say AMEN AND AMEN.

Stay posted for Monday Sports Update.

With Yours Truly Chairman.
