Leslie Allen - Gone Too Soon

Yet again, the sports fraternity of Sierra Leone is in mourning, this time though the said individual was also in politics.
Sierra Leone football star, Leslie Allen (pictured) passed away on Sunday February 25, 2023 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Leslie Allen played for his school St Edwards, then Old Edwardians F.C./Port's Authority/East End Lions and off course the National team Leone Stars. He then moved to Cote D'Ivoire and starred for (ASEC MIMOSA) and spent some time in Gabon.
Leslie was a striker on the right flank (nicknamed Litbaski/SilaBob) and he caused problems for
defenders with his lightening speed/dribbling skills and dazzling-kick on the run.
He was a member of Leone Stars at the Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia before departing to the United States of America. While in the United States, he ventured into the POLITICAL arena, and until recently won a position within the ranks of the main opposition APC.
As such, it was shocking to learn about the demise of this illustrious son of the soil, on the very Sunday on the Thanksgiving of his Alma Mata St. Edwards Secondary School.
During his visits to Freetown, he would many times join his peers former Leone Stars/veteran players in friendly matches to keep fit even in the U.S.
Like his late Dad, Leslie would also be remembered for his love for CULTURAL EVENTS. He would be seen parading the streets of Freetown either with the Hunting or Ojeh Society groups, he was also a devoted Christian.
As a veteran sports journalist who covered most sportsmen/women back home, Leslie was a friend of the Media (Print/ Electronics).
Rest in peace Leslie Allen!
