Emotional Breakdown at the Graveside of Haja Hawanatu Sesay's Funeral

It was an emotional breakdown at the graveside of the funeral of Haja Hawanatu Sesay. Family members were openly crying and weeping for the late Haja.


Mama Haja, as she was fondly called, was finally laid to rest today at the Transcona Cemetery in Winnipeg, Canada.


Amidst the snow and deadly cold Manitoba weather, Winnipeggers turned out to show their last respect.


At 2:00pm (CST), just after Jumu'ah prayers at the Winnipeg Grand Masjid, Janazah prayers were conducted for Haja Hawanatu Sesay, the body was transported to Transcona Cemetery at Dugald Road where she was laid to rest.


The daughter of Mama Haja, Francess Fosonah, whom according to Islamic tradition women shouldn't present at interment, later showed after the body was fully buried, to say say final goodbye to her mother.


"Mama, go rest, may Allah accept all your five daily prayers and grant you Jannah," she was saying at the graveside. It was a very emotional moment as she lost control of her emotions and bursted into an uncontrollable tears.


The last brother of Mama Haja, Abu Sesay, who flown all the way from Pennsylvania, USA, was also present at the graveside and was very emotional with tears.


Final prayers were recited at the graveside and Mama Haja was final laid to rest.


Till we meet again, rest in peace Haja Hawanatu Sesay.
