Miss Haja Mariama Kamara, popularly known as China Nicky (pictured), on Sunday October 14, 2018, won the highly coveted Big Sister Salone 2018 crown.

The event which was held at the prestigious Quincy's Night Club along the west end seafront in Aberdeen village, on the western outskirts if Freetown, attracted government officials, show business gurus, foreign dignitaries, business executives as well the general public.

The competition which lasted for one month and saw twelve young ladies being isolated in an undisclosed house in the west of Freetown culminated in the three finalists who had escaped eviction slugging it out at the grand final in which Haja Mariama Kamara better known as China Nicky emerged as the winner after scoring 68% of the national and international votes cast.

Coming in second place is Miss Camerah Kamara who took 20% with a favourite contender, Miss Isha Marrah coming third with 12%.

Queen China Nicky bagged ten million Leones and a brand new car as her prize while the runner up receive five million Leones with the second runner up scooping two million five hundred thousand Leones, while the nine evicted sisters were given consolation amounts of money.

By all indications, China Nicky is a new comer to the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone who had never been heard of before now. She's a high school drop out who can barely speak passable English while almost all of her fellow competitors are highly educated, from having senior secondary school certificates to diplomas to degrees to some being in university.

When 40 Acres Canada quizzed her on what made her win the competition she retorted that it was the miracle of God.

The competition was organised by leading mobile company, Africell, the African Young Voices Media Empire and international model, singer and actress - Miss Zainab Sheriff.

In a chat after the event, she told 40 Acres Canada that she conceived the idea which received support from the African Young Voices Media Empire and Africell as well as other companies and government. She revealed that the event is meant to show case the talents of young Sierra Leonean ladies and empower them to achieve their aspirations and positively impact young girls.

She noted that the programme will be an annual event which will be made attractive and relevant to the entertainment industry in Sierra Leone.
