Alaska to Spice up Koinadugu Descendants' Dinner & Dance in Winnipeg

By Lans Omar, Winnipeg, Canada.

As momentum rises for tonight's dinner & dance for the Koinadugu Descendants of the Sierra Leone community in Winnipeg, Canada, PegCity's own reggae maestro, "Alaska" is all fired up the thrill the event.

In has also been confirmed by the event's publicist, Menuna Boh Marrah, that he's the main act scheduled to perform tonight.

Ms. Marrah also confirmed that: "It's a big event and all proceeds will go towards helping kids get school supplies  and other basic items in Koinadugu district."

The event is scheduled to take place today October 1st, 2016 at the City Oasis, 435 Cumberland Avenue, Winnipeg, Canada, commencing at 8:00pm.

As for Alaska, few Sierra Leonean artists at home and in the diaspora have explored the possibilities of pop-reggae fusion as successfully as Alaska, who is enormously popular back home and in Canada, and has achieved a level of stateside success that other Sierra Leonean artists (with the exception of Emerson Njawah, Jr.) can only wish for.

His smooth voice and his comfort with the neo-reggae genre have only increased his marketability; and there's no denying his talent is uniquely unseen across all West Africa and beyond.

MCs for the night will be Lansana and Ms. Marrah, and the music will be supplied by DJ Abdul Rahman.
