SLAA Community President Dr. Abu Conteh Delivers "Family Day" Message

By Daniel Oldfield, Edmonton, Canada. February 19, 2024.
As members of the Sierra Leone Association of Alberta( SLAA) joined fellow Albertans in celebrating FAMILY DAY, in the province, community President, Dr. Abu Conteh, delivered a message of family values.
The message came as Christian members are in the season of Lent, leading to Good Friday/Easter, while their Muslim counterparts are likewise looking forward to the Holy month of Ramadan.
After both Religious events, the association is bracing for the 63rd SIERRA LEONE INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON APRIL 27th, 2024.

Below is the "Family Day" message delivered by Dr. Abu Conteh:
February 19, 2024.
FAMILY DAY: 2024.
Fellow Community Members:

Today, being the Third Monday in February (February 19, 2024), we have an opportunity to celebrate yet another Family Day. This day brings us dual benefits: the recognition of the value of family life to the wellbeing of people and their communities, and the provision of the much-needed break between New Years Day and Good Friday for family members to spend quality time together.

As we celebrate this occasion as a family and reflect on the improved quality of this celebration from the pandemic to the last two years, let us for one moment ponder over the words of our Almighty God that promises that “The latter Days shall be better than the former Days” (Haggai 2:9; Job 8:7). Let us pray and endeavour that these blessings do not reside only in our family homes but will be omnipresent in our beloved community as well.

On behalf of my family and the Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Association of Alberta, I send my very best wishes to all of you for a Blessed Family Day, complete with affectionate memories.

Sincerely,
Abu Conteh, PhD
Community President
