Behind the Scenes with Lans Omar - December 2, 2023.

Hello everyone!

From Winnipeg, Canada, respect to all my fam, fans, and friends! Ar don cam back!

The weekend vibes are here – Afro Arts Productions conclude the “Honours for Outstanding Contributions 2023 Awards nite in the UK, the Maada Bio “double PhD in Coup” effect, Rapper Boss LA turns himself in after prison breakout, Ernest Bai Koroma’s bodyguards/coup plotters in the question of the day, plus lots more. You're about to read another neck-breaking edition of “Behind the Scenes". This column is the radical thoughts of one guy called Lans Omar aka the “Golden Child” - born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Let's do this: Hey fellas, I just got back home on Monday November 27, 2023, from London, UK, after concluding the biggest Sierra Leonean entertainment production on earth – Afro Arts Productions. Dubbed “The Sierra Leone Grammys”, this year’s recipients were so cool. I had the pleasure of meeting, rubbing shoulders, munching and chatting with some of the recipients – football/soccer legend Atto Mensah of East End Lions/Leone Stars, Dr. Kingsley Lington of Concord Times (the gentleman that thought me the fine art of journalism), Youtuber Triple A and actor Collins Archer-Pearce, etc. Again, if you’ve never been to the Afro Arts Productions awards nite, you’ve never seen anything sensationally entertaining in the Sierra Leone entertainment industry like this.

Switching gears: The coup plotters cracked & opened the coded security and fortified Sierra Leone armory - the military arsenal of the country, the mutineers opened up the country’s largest prison facility and let 1,890 inmates escaped plus 20 people left dead and the coup plotters were just moment away from toppling the president and his government and President Bio has the audacity to address the Sierra Leone people that it was a “Security Breach”. What the heck? What a lucky guy on that fateful morning of November 26, 2023. “Security Breach”, lol.

Apparently, this is clearly an attempted coup, period! This one obviously exposes how weak the government’s intelligent team is; this evidently portrays how lame President Bio is, probably a coward, not to accept the fact that he’s been busted by his own trusted armed forces to a point that your prison was broken into and freed all your enemies you’ve locked up till doomsday. The mutineers didn’t only decode the almighty code at the armory but also took off with arms and ammunitions from Sierra Leone’s arsenal at Wilberforce. A shanda! Yes, a shame to the man that holds a “Double PhD in Coup d’etat”. Oona lef me, ar beg.

I’m NOT supporting any coup in Sierra Leone, I don’t even f**king care if one happens there or not, it’s not my dame business. I just feel ashamed for the citizens of Sierra Leone especially the president’s supporters; for President Bio to look right into their faces in a national broadcast and lied to them that it was a “Security Breach”. Imagine, if he had been toppled that morning, the English language would’ve gotten a new word by now. I’m out of here. Oona go learn. You just wait till Abdul Suhood Komeh lays his hands on this topic next week, you’ll be sorry reading his missive, just wait.

Next stop: On Tuesday November 28, rapper Boss LA willingly turned himself in at the Pademba Road Prison after the prison outbreak in Freetown. All the 1,890 inmates were set free by the coup plotters. Few turned themselves in including rapper Boss LA and rest of the jailbirds are the run.

Going back to the drawing board, High Court Judge, Justice Adrian Fisher, sentenced the rapper to 9 years imprisonment and ordered him to pay compensation to the victims. Boss LA was found guilty on all four counts of charges levied against him including robbery and assault contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. Many have seen Boss LA’s arrest, trial and incarceration at the Pademba Road prison as a political punishment by the SLPP for the rapper’s affiliations with the opposition party. Salone nor to serious country.

Question: Is it true that Ernest Bai Koroma sent his bodyguards to overthrown President Bio in this current coup? Nor to God pull some of we nar dar country dae so. Too much nonsense, former president involving in a coup. Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Finally: Again, Da Golden Child is back in the city after the Afro Arts Productions award nite in London, UK. I’m still jetlagged and trying to catch up with things. Tonight, I’m might be chilling at Sallay Kuyateh’s birthday bash, not too sure. Pretty woman wants to go out and chill too but she doesn’t do house parties and stuff; sometimes, I wish she’s a party girl like Da Golden Child, but nada, she’s a quiet Christian lady.

Fellas, just so you know there are lots of free city parties going on – if you plan to have some good time and get a drink, you know the rules, right? If you’re drinking, don’t drive – if you’re driving, don’t drink. Have a great weekend! Lonta.

I'm out of here!

Cheers fellas!

The Golden Child.
